FAQ's About Relentless Arctic Air Twins

Q: Do I have to upgrade my head gasket with o-rings or head studs for reliability?

A: No, our twin kit comes with a high pressure relief valve to prevent excessive boost pressure.  The stock head gasket on the '03 and newer trucks will handle 60-65 psi reliably.  We keep our boost pressures in the low to mid 50 psi range for an added margin of safety.

If you want to add nitrous, propane, water/methynol mix or a combination of these we'd recommend getting the head studs for added reliability

Q: What do I have to modify to install your twin setup?

A: Nothing.  Our kit comes complete with everything needed to install the system.  There is no cutting or welding required.  With our kit you also get to keep your passenger side battery in it's factory location.

Q: What EGT's can I expect?

A:  Of course it depends on the amount of fueling enhancements you've made, but we can give you a good idea.  For comparison sake, a stock Cummins 600 will run 1350° under a heavy load.  With a 65HP Edge EZ on level 3, we typically see 1550° under a heavy load.

Our original test truck with an Edge EZ and 100 HP injectors would make 1600° + with a stock single turbo.  With the Artic Air twin turbos it dyno'd 428 HP @ 48 psi of boost and only made 950°F exhaust temperature.   That's a drop of over 650° in exhaust temperature.

We've also tested a heavy fueling TST box stacked with the Edge EZ and 100 HP Injectors.  This combination resulted in 546 HP @ 56 psi and a maximum EGT of 1150°.  Unbelievably, this is lower than the factory exhaust temperature.

We've tested a new '05 that still had the factory 4" exhaust with the catalytic converter and stock injectors.  At 55 psi, and 540 HP it made just 1350° exhaust temperature.

Q: Do I have to buy an aftermarket exhaust for the twin turbos to work properly.

A: No.  The downpipe that comes with the kit is a full 5" pipe to work with those that may want to upgrade to a full 5" exhaust.  But the kit also includes a slip on adapter to shrink the 5" downpipe back down to your factory or aftermarket 4" exhaust.  We've really put a lot of effort into making these kits install as easily as possible and work in every application right out of the box.
